Castiglioncello is a civil parish in the municipality of Rosignano Marittimo in the province of Livorno.

The Medici built here during the 16th century a watchtower (recently conservated) on the promontory, it's a famous touristic seaside since the 19th century.

Moreover the painting movement of the Macchiaioli developed between the safe bays and the macchia, and expressed itself with the works of Giovanni Fattori, Odoardo Borrani, Silvestro Lega, Telemaco Signori, Giuseppe Abbati and many others, who used to live in Castiglioncello, guests of the mecenate Diego Martelli and their paintings usually represent the village and the sourrounding hills.

On the main square, Piazza della Vittoria, sorrounded by a park, you will see the Castello Pasquini, built at the end of the 19th century by the Baron Fausto LazzaroPatrone.

It has always been a place of culture and relaz, in the 60es Castiglioncello is one of the main destinations for the holidays of cinema stars like Alberto Sordi and Marcello Mastroianni.

During those years it was also the movie set of the Il Sorpasso (directed by Dino Risi with Vittorio Gassman and Jean-Luis Trintignant.

Today it is still the destination of a large number of tourists.

Our base is in the marina Cala de' Medici, which provides the opportunity to explore all the horizons, both towards the sea as well  inwards. The High Tirreno concentrates an exceptional wealth of natural resources and landscape, a city rich in history, culture, art, food and wine .. The village of Marina is a lively space from local shops and restaurants of different style and tendency, in a well balanced combination between tradition and innovation. With a busy calendar of cultural events, music and numerous businesses, the village is always happy and animated by several boats, who choose to transit.

By car from south (Castiglioncello is 300 km from Rome): SS1 Aurelia highway (E 80): Take direction Grosseto - Livorno until Castiglioncello.

By car from east: highway SGC FI-PI-LI: take direction until at Livorno Livorno
take highway SS1 Aurelia (E 80) direction Grosseto
Continue along the coast on SS1 Aurelia (E 80): After Quercianella, follow the signs Castiglioncello
